Scone City serves some of the best scones I've had outside of England!
I live in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, which is on the west side of the city. While only four miles from downtown Chicago I love it because it feels like a real neighborhood, with tree-lined streets and side-walk cafes. One of the big draws of Division Street, which is one of the main streets in the neighborhood, is the wide sidewalks. All the restaurants and bars take advantage of that in the summer months, which is a good thing!!
Scone City is this cute little place that opened this neighborhood in 2015. At first I was a little surprised, a cafe that served just scones and coffee didn't seem likely to be a winner, however they seem to be doing quite well. There is a line every time I stop in, and most of the seats are usually full too.
And I can totally see why! I'd attribute that success to the amazing scones, enjoyable atmosphere and friendly service. Like happens in a lot of other "coffee shops" people come and hang out to work, chat with friends or just get out of the house. In the summer they too have a nice little patio which is a perfect place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and a tasty scone.
Scones range from sweet to savory. Two of my favorites are the Cherry Almond and the Breakfast Scone that includes bacon, egg and white cheddar. I'm also dying to try the Blueberry with Lemon Glaze and the Brie, Honey, Thyme.
A few months ago I met up with Kate, from Eat at Kate's to catch up and talk about some blogging projects. She'd never been to Scone Scity and I'd only popped in quickly to grab a scone to go, so it was fun to sit, people watch and enjoy the atmosphere.
If you are over on the west side of the city, or just want to try something new on a warm summer Sunday, I'd definitely come check out Scone City - you won't be disappointed!
Thanks to Scone City and Galdones Photography for providing the lovely photos for this post!!
