This Rosé Sangria gets an extra pop of flavor from some strawberries and a vanilla bean making it a wonderful cocktail for a warm summer afternoon! It's the ideal pitcher cocktail when you are serving drinks for a group.
Nothing says summer drink more than a nice chilled glass of Rosé. And since one of my favorite things to do on a warm summer afternoon is to sit on the patio and drink wine with my friends, Rosé has become my drink of choice and it is truly becoming one of my favorite wines!
I really love checking out all the different options - from light, pale pink to light red. Each comes with its own unique flavor profile. So, since I've been drinking so much Rosé lately it only seemed natural to come up with a sangria made from it!!
Recipe Highlights
- There is no added sugar in this sangria, so regardless of what type of Rosé you choose, you shouldn't have to worry about it getting too sweet.
- The strawberries give this sangria a nice light, fruity taste, which makes it excellent for a summer picnic or patio party.
Recipe Ingredients
- Rosé: You'll need one 750ml bottle. I personally prefer a drier Rosé so that's what I choose when I make sangria, however, if you like something a little more fruity, that will work too.
- Fruit: The recipe calls for strawberries, lime slices and orange slices but you can experiment a little bit if you like. Peaches can make a nice addition if they are in season.
- Vanilla bean: I recommend using an actual vanilla bean when you make this sangria.
- Cointreau
- Club soda: The fizzier the better for this drink!
How to make Rosé sangria
Making sangria is very easy! You just need a nice tall pitcher, some fruit, and a bottle of good quality wine.
Slice the fruit: You want to keep the citrus slices pretty thin. I generally leave the orange slices in half-rounds but you can also cut them in quarters if you like.
Soak with fruit. Add your oranges, limes, strawberries and vanilla bean to the pitcher. Let them soak in the Cointreau for a few minutes.
Mix in the wine. Pour in the bottle of Rosé. Use your favorite as you'll enjoy the sangria best this way. Stir the sangria and chill for at least an hour.
Top with bubbles. Top with sparkling water or club soda before serving.
If you want to turn it into a "Rosé all Day" kind of day, I'd pick a really light-bodied Rosé for the sangria and move into something a little heavier, like a Rosé of Pinot Noir for dinner!!
What goes with sangria?
Well, really just about anything. Sangria is a traditional Spanish drink so I often serve it with small bites. Some ideas for your next al fresco cocktail hour include:
- Balsamic-Glazed Melon, Proscuitto and Mozzarella Skewers
- Roasted Tomato Ricotta Crostini
- Or just create a beautiful cheeseboard
Rosé Sangria Recipe
Ingredients
- 750 ml bottle of Rosé
- 1 lime, (sliced into rounds)
- ½ an orange, cut into thin slices
- 1 cup strawberries, halved or quartered
- 2 ounces Cointreau
- ½ a vanilla bean
- 1 cup club soda
- mint leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Soak the fruit. Put fruit in the bottom of a tall pitcher. Add Cointreau and vanilla bean. Let the fruit soak for about 10 minutes.
- Mix the sangria. Add the Rosé to the pitcher, stir and chill for at least an hour.
- Serve. Just before you are ready to serve top with club soda. Add a handful of ice to each glass, pour the sangria into the glass and garnish with mint leaves if desired. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Ideally, you'll chill the sangria for 2-4 hours but one hour is the minimum to start to get some of the fruit flavor infused into the sangria.
