Grab a couple of bottles of prosecco before the weekend and experiment with some fun pairings!
Sparkling wine is often thought of as a celebratory drink associated with special occasions like New Year's Eve, birthdays and anniversaries. However, it can be so much more than that! It's the perfect summer drink to enjoy on warm evenings on your patio or for a date night at home.
At my birthday dinner several months ago I was at a hip new restaurant in Chicago and we were chatting with the sommelier about various wine and food pairings. She suggested we try the fried elotes with a sparkling wine which sounded delicious and crazy to me at the same time, but it got me thinking about other pairings for prosecco and prosecco cocktails.
As it turns out, prosecco complements crunchy, salty foods really nicely. Who knew! Seriously, give it a try for your next date night - pop some popcorn and grab a bottle of prosecco. I promise you won't be disappointed. Add french fries to the list too! I know we all probably try not to eat them too often but you've got to try them with some of this prosecco - it's life changing!
This prosecco from Riondo is really light, with a slightly sweet, fruity flavor that makes it an excellent choice for all kinds of pairings. It's super easy to drink and the screw-top enclosure makes it a great choice for picnics or taking along to end of summer backyard BBQs. The friend who joined me when I was shooting these photos really loved it's flavor and agreed it was a perfect prosecco for a summer patio drink. It's a really fun and festive alternative to traditional wine or cocktails.
If you want to take it to the next level, you can make an easy and incredibly tasty cocktail by mixing this prosecco with a bit of vermouth. Just take about half an ounce of blanco (white) vermouth and add it to a small bowl with half a teaspoon of sugar then stir until the sugar is dissolved. Pour the mixture into a flute, add a raspberry or two and top with the Riondo Prosecco. Enjoy!
